Thanks to a reader tip, I was reminded of the fact that so much of what we think of as 'new' already exists, hidden from view by our own ignorance! Here's a link to a photo of a Thai khanom, or sweet, utilizing duck yolks, along with mention of similar 'traditional' applications in other food cultures.

very interesting as well to me; i was looking up thai egg sweets, and it turns out, many of the "thai" preparations are actually derivatives of the portuguese angel hair, which were adopted after the visits of portuguese explorers...
